During this meeting, comprehensive market statistics for kratom in Thailand were presented. Experts concluded that despite the high demand, the country's current production capacity does not exceed 250 kilograms per month for extracts of such high purity. Facilities and technologies capable of reaching concentrations of 75% Mitragynine and pure 7-OH are not yet developed in Thailand. Currently, extracts with Mitragynine concentrations of up to 50% remain available.
Another factor restricting availability is current legislation. Officially, Thailand permits only the export of finished kratom products approved by the Thai FDA. Exporting raw materials, including high-concentration extracts, lacks clear legal regulation. Some laboratories unofficially and illegally export small quantities of these extracts.
However, the legislative landscape is rapidly changing. Within three months, by June, a new decree will take effect, allowing official exports of kratom as a raw material. An export license will be required, issued not by the FDA but by the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB).
