Thailand’s Kratom Market Update: Mitragynine 75%+ and 7-OH Extracts
High-Concentration Kratom Extracts: Why 7-OH and 75%+ Mitragynine Extracts Are Not Yet Available in Thailand
Kratom extracts containing 75% or higher Mitragynine and pure 7-OH are increasingly requested in large quantities, particularly from the US market. However, these extracts are currently unavailable for official ordering and export from Thailand.
A significant meeting recently took place involving Burakorn Kratom Consulting, representatives from Thai farming communities, the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), leading research universities, pharmaceutical companies, and American investors. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the current situation and prospects for producing high-concentration kratom extracts, specifically those featuring 7-OH and 75%+ Mitragynine.
During this meeting, comprehensive market statistics for kratom in Thailand were presented. Experts concluded that despite the high demand, the country's current production capacity does not exceed 250 kilograms per month for extracts of such high purity. Facilities and technologies capable of reaching concentrations of 75% Mitragynine and pure 7-OH are not yet developed in Thailand. Currently, extracts with Mitragynine concentrations of up to 50% remain available.
Another factor restricting availability is current legislation. Officially, Thailand permits only the export of finished kratom products approved by the Thai FDA. Exporting raw materials, including high-concentration extracts, lacks clear legal regulation. Some laboratories unofficially and illegally export small quantities of these extracts.
However, the legislative landscape is rapidly changing. Within three months, by June, a new decree will take effect, allowing official exports of kratom as a raw material. An export license will be required, issued not by the FDA but by the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). Burakorn Kratom Consulting is fully prepared to assist companies in obtaining such licenses.
Why Thailand is the Ideal Location for Kratom Extraction and Production:
Firstly, the market for high-concentration kratom extracts in Thailand is currently unoccupied, meaning first movers will have a significant competitive advantage. Secondly, new legislation will soon permit the legal export of kratom as a raw material. Thirdly, Thailand boasts the world's largest supply of kratom leaves, enabling the complete cycle of production and extraction within the country. Thai kratom leaves are of exceptional quality, making local extraction potentially the best in the world.
Thailand is actively seeking investors interested in supporting responsible production and international distribution of high-quality kratom, particularly targeting the US market. If you aim to be among the first to enter this promising market and require detailed information about cooperation opportunities, please contact us at Burakorn Kratom Consulting. We are open for discussions and ready to thoroughly explain all aspects and benefits of working with high-concentration kratom extracts.
Update – April 16, 2025
As of April 2025, Thailand’s kratom industry continues to evolve — but the reality around high-purity extracts (75%+ Mitragynine) remains highly restrictive.
One of the core challenges is raw material availability. To produce just 100 kilograms of 75% extract, approximately 60 metric tons of dried kratom leaves are required — which equals roughly 150–180 tons of fresh leaf. Currently, no single farm or province in Thailand has the capacity to harvest this quantity in one cycle.
In addition, lab infrastructure remains limited. Only a handful of laboratories are currently producing up to 200 kilograms of 75% extract per month, and they are all operating under exclusive supply contracts. Several other labs that previously produced 30–50% extract have now secured investment deals and are transitioning to 75% extract production as well.
All of these labs are scaling toward high-volume output, and it’s expected that by the end of 2025, Thailand’s monthly production capacity may reach 500 kilograms of 75% extract. However, none of this will be accessible on the open market.
Based on our firsthand experience and internal analysis, the only viable path to accessing 75% extract from Thailand over the next 1–2 years is through investment into full-cycle production.
Partial-cycle models — where one would purchase 30% extract from other suppliers and convert it — are no longer viable, as those suppliers are now producing and consuming all of their own material to upgrade to 75%.
This means that anyone seeking to secure high-concentration extract in Thailand must be prepared for multi-million-dollar investment in vertically integrated operations — from raw leaf to final product.
At Burakorn Kratom Consulting, we specialize in guiding partners through the cultural, regulatory, and operational complexities of this market. One of the most overlooked risks is cultural misunderstanding, where miscommunication in early-stage documentation or informal agreements leads to delays and losses. Our role is to bridge these gaps and ensure smooth, transparent execution from start to finish.
